When the network fails, communication continues.

AXION R1 is a disaster communication terminal that needs no internet, cellular or satellite infrastructure. Every device is a network node: messages, voice notes, photos and locations hop from device to device until they reach your team.

Why AXION R1

In the first hours of a disaster, communication is needed most. It is also the first thing to fail.

01

The network goes silent

When earthquakes, floods or fires damage power and fibre lines, base stations go offline. Calls and messages never arrive.

02

Radio alone is not enough

Conventional radios are limited to voice. Locations, photos and recordings cannot be shared, and critical information is lost on crowded channels.

03

Coordination breaks down

Headquarters cannot see the field; teams cannot see each other. Who is where, who has been reached? Information stays scattered and time is lost.

How it works

Every device is a node. Every node is a bridge.

AXION R1 units form a network among themselves. No central infrastructure is needed: the network is the devices in the field.

01

Switch on and join

As soon as it is powered on, the device finds nearby AXION R1 units and joins the network. No setup, no operator.

02

Messages hop forward

To reach a team beyond direct range, a message is relayed through the devices in between.

03

The network heals itself

If a device switches off or moves, the network finds a new path. Communication is not interrupted.

AXION R1

Everything the field needs, in a single device.

More than text

Beyond messaging: voice notes, photos, locations and files. Teams do more than talk; they show each other the field.

Long-range radio

25 km point-to-point range with the built-in antenna in field tests. Every device that joins the network extends coverage further.

Field-ready hardware

A large screen, a camera and on-board storage: record and share the field with the one device in your hand.

Secure by design

PIN screen lock, protection against repeated wrong attempts and signed software updates only.

Always up to date

New features and improvements arrive automatically whenever the device connects to Wi-Fi.

Range depends on terrain, building density, weather and antenna height. The stated figure is from an open-terrain, line-of-sight test.

RED OS

An operating system written for disasters.

AXION R1 runs RED OS, our own operating system. It is designed to be used quickly and reliably under stress: large touch targets, high contrast, simple flows.

Who it is for

For everyone who serves in a disaster.

GOVERNMENT

Disaster management agencies

Uninterrupted, infrastructure-independent information flow between the field and headquarters during disaster coordination.

  • Live situation reports from field teams
  • A backup communication line independent of the network
  • Communication between assembly areas
LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Municipalities

A disaster-time communication network between neighbourhoods, assembly areas and municipal teams.

  • Nodes that can be placed at assembly areas
  • Coordination with search and rescue and logistics teams
  • Use in disaster drills
FIELD

Search and rescue teams

Message, location and photo sharing between teams at the rubble site; everyone knows who is where, at all times.

ENTERPRISE

Companies

Team communication at sites with weak or no network coverage, such as energy, mining, construction and logistics.

INDIVIDUAL

Individual users

Off-grid communication for mountaineering, remote rural life or a disaster preparedness kit.

Pilot program

Let's plan AXION R1 for your organisation together.

AXION R1 is in development. We work with organisations on real field scenarios and take the first devices into the field together with pilot program participants.

  • Assessment tailored to your organisationWe review your needs, field conditions and team structure together.
  • Field test in your own regionWe measure range and usability with you, under real conditions.
  • Training and direct supportHands-on training for your teams and direct access to the engineering team.
We usually respond within 2 business days.
Frequently asked questions

Common questions

When will AXION R1 be available?

AXION R1 is currently in development. We are taking the first devices into the field together with organisations in the pilot program. For timelines and pricing, simply fill in the quote form.

How does it communicate without internet or a network?

Every AXION R1 is a transmitter, a receiver and a relay. Messages that cannot reach their recipient directly hop through the devices in between. This structure is called a mesh network and it needs no central infrastructure.

What is the range?

In our field tests we measured 25 km point-to-point with the built-in antenna (open terrain, line of sight). Range depends on terrain, building density and antenna height. In a mesh network every device that joins extends coverage; in the pilot program we measure range in your own region together.

Does it replace our existing radio systems?

AXION R1 is designed to work alongside existing systems and complements them: beyond voice, it adds messages, photos, locations and recordings. We assess your integration needs together during the pilot discussion.

How is the device updated?

When AXION R1 connects to a Wi-Fi network it downloads new software automatically. Updates are digitally signed; the device installs only software published by Redbrella.
